"Comedy Central Presents" What's most surprising about comedian Zach Galifianakis is that his last name is not the funniest thing about him. In this, his first solo comedy special, he weaves an interactive performance at San Francisco's Purple Onion with road trip footage and interviews with his "brother" Seth, who looks, suspiciously, a lot like him. It's metacomedy at its best with singing, dancing and improv.
Some of his best one liners are “My girlfriend looks a little bit like Charlize Theron…and a lot like Patrick Ewing.”
Zach moved to New York City after failing his last college class by one point. Zach got his start performing his brand of humor in the back of a hamburger joint in Times Square. He now tours the country, performing in coffee shops and universities. When not performing stand-up, Zach spends time at his home in the mountains of his native North Carolina, where he hopes to open a writer's retreat on a completely self-sustained farm.
Zach Galifianakis headlined the Comedians of Comedy tour, a live alternative comedy show that toured through various rock venues across America. The tour was the subject of a self-titled documentary film for NetFlix and Showtime and a series on Comedy Central. They recently were the first comedy show to be a part of the world-famous Coachella Music Festival. The latest special, The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour, premiered on Comedy Central's Secret Stash and is on sale now.
After failing his last college course by one point at North Carolina State University, Zach moved to New York City. His first stand-up gig was in the back of a hamburger restaurant in Times Square. In order to pay the bills, he worked as a nanny and house cleaner while doing stand-up at night in clubs and coffee houses in the city.
While working as a bus boy, he got his first acting job on a sitcom called "Boston Common" for NBC. He has since been seen on a number of late-night talk shows including "Letterman," "Conan" and "Jimmy Kimmel."
He also hosted his own critically-acclaimed but short-lived talk show for VH1 titled "Late World with Zach."
He continues to travel the country doing stand-up in rock clubs, coffee houses and universities.
Galifianakis lives in Venice Beach, California and also lives part-time on his farm in the mountains of North Carolina.
He was also featured in the COMEDY CENTRAL series, "Dog Bites Man" playing the role of Alan Finger.
